Robert Taylor Jr. (he/him) is an American entertainer, singer-songwriter, dancer, choreographer, and educator whose mission is to inspire people of all ages through music and dance. Born in Brooklyn and raised in Coney Island, New York, he developed his love for the arts under the guidance of his father, Robert 鈥淏obby T-Boy鈥� Taylor, and later earned a B.A. in Dance with a minor in Musical Theatre from Marymount Manhattan College.
A five-time NYC underground music showcase winner, Robert has built a multifaceted career spanning stage, television, film, and music. His credits include American Idol, So You Think You Can Dance, MTV鈥檚 Say What? Karaoke, the national tour of Hairspray, and performances with Rihanna, L.L. Cool J, and New Edition. In 2023, he performed at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony during the Soul Train segment honoring The Spinners.
Robert made his Broadway debut in SpongeBob SquarePants and has appeared on Law & Order: Organized Crime, And Just Like That鈥�, and The Equalizer with Queen Latifah. During the pandemic, he studied music production under Grammy Award-winning producer Timbaland and was recognized as Student of the Month in 2020.
An accomplished educator, Robert celebrated 15 years of teaching for Broadway Dance Center and has served as a brand ambassador, leading workshops and classes internationally in Sweden, India, Argentina, and Russia. He is currently on faculty at STEPS on Broadway as a teacher and choreographer.
Today, Robert continues to perform professionally as a member of the Brooklyn Nets鈥� Level-Up Squad and as one of “The Stompaz” for Ellie the Elephant with the New York Liberty. You can also catch him in “Song Sung Blue” with Hugh Jackman and as the robot “Avo” in the Ryan Reynolds Aviation Gin commercial. Robert is now one of the top Michael Jackson impersonators in NYC and he was also in conversation for the “Michael” movie that was released this year.
